Meet the Team | Amelia Crews

Who Am I?

I have recently finished my degree in BSc Business and Digital Marketing and am actively searching for a career driven by sustainability. Through being environmentally-centred and obsessed with the sea, I have always loved applying my skills in research and marketing to assist a higher purpose and to play a part in the needed systemic change. I am currently trying to make my lifestyle the most ethical and sustainable it can be whilst also inspiring and empowering my networks to do the same.

What I believe in?

I believe that an emphasis should be drawn onto the value of the story behind a piece of clothing. There is a destructive stigma around regenerative clothing as they are perceived as ‘old’ and ’so last year.’ This needs to be changed into thinking about how your clothes may have helped a previous owner through their walks of life and is now here to clothe you. We must find value behind our clothes.

Why SFW?

Ever since I was little, I have adored creating amazing, beautiful outfits that lift my mood. However, when I became more aware of the destructive impacts the fashion industry had on the planet, I began to almost have a hatred towards it. This changed when I realised that fashion does not necessarily mean a consistent stream of new clothing, but could be about creating new from old and utilising preexisting clothes to create one of a kind clothing. This is why I am fully behind SFW.

What I do for SFW

I am the Ambassador Lead whilst also assisting on ad hoc research projects for the team.

My 3 favourite items

  • Bright red dungarees that I acquired through Depop. I get so many compliments on them and just love that I get to carry on its life!

  • A retro denim jacket that was once my mums when she was my age.

  • My sparkly long navy cowl neck dress that is also a hand-me-down from my mum! It is definitely a statement piece that I will keep for as long as I can wear it!
