Meet the Team | Ceilidh Jackson-Baker
Who am I
I am an experienced project coordinator, working on projects that promote environmental sustainability and help Bristol towards becoming carbon neutral, and resilient to the effects of climate change. I love cooking, dancing, countryside walks and sewing.
What I believe in
Valuing the skills and resources that have gone into producing clothes and celebrating the stories behind every outfit.
Why SFW
I love clothes. I’m not one to follow the latest fashion trends, but I recognise the value of clothes for self-expression and identity as well as pure functionality. Sustainable fashion has a reputation of being exclusive and expensive, out of reach for most people. At SFW we want to share that sustainable fashion is for everyone through our four themes of #REGENERATE, #REWEAR, #REPURPOSE and #REBEL.
What I do for SFW
I’m SFW’s Strategy Lead. I provide strategic direction including communications and content strategy, building connections and supporting programming.
3 favourite items in my wardrobe
· Monochrome skirt. I got this black and white skirt at a clothes swap. It is super comfy, smart but fun, plus it has pockets! The top is from a charity shop.
· Humphries and Begg dress. Stroud based Humphries and Begg are a small brand who design bold patterns that are screen-printed onto organic cotton dresses, shirts and playsuits. I have had my eye on them for a few years now and recently bought myself a dress in a bright pink, orange and blue print. It is comfortable, stylish and bold.
· Homemade jumpsuit. Last Summer I had two weddings to go and didn’t want to wear a dress or buy something new, so I made myself a jumpsuit from my fabric stash. It is inspired by Yevu Clothing and the Fabric Africa exhibition at Bristol Museum. It took me ages… especially the pattern matching but I am proud of it and will wear it for many years to come (not just to weddings!).
