SFW HUB: BRIGHTON
Introducing our Hub partners in Brighton…
Our Brighton Hub will be designed and delivered by Hayley Franco of the Brighton Peace and Environment Centre (BPEC).
BPEC is a long-standing Brighton based charity working across the southeast on projects that promote peace, equality and the environment. Through their activities, they aim to educate and empower local communities to take action for positive change.
The city of Brighton and Hove, well-known for its green credentials, is the ideal location for this project. The streets are lined with vegan restaurants, organic food stores, refill stations, and vintage and second-hand shops on every corner. You’ll find electric buses whizzing around the city and you might even bump into the UK’s only Green Party MP, Caroline Lucas.
BPEC’s mission with the Sustainable Fashion Week Hub in Brighton is to challenge society to rethink our relationship with clothes by re-wearing, sharing and caring for the clothes we already have. They want to help provide the public with tools needed to extend the life-cycle of what we wear and empower the community to demand accountability for the harmful practices in the fashion industry.
This SFW hub will be taking place in one of Brighton’s most iconic locations (details coming soon!) and will be offering a weekend packed with clothes swaps, a mend and repair room where members of the public can bring their clothes in to be given a second lease of life, a stylist corner helping you make the most out of the clothes you already own, sustainable market traders ready to showcase their products and services, and discussion panels with slow fashion activists and fair wage campaigners sharing their top tips on how to make a positive change in the world by buying less. And the best thing – IT’S ALL FREE - because we’re determined to make sustainable fashion accessible to everyone.
