#MendItMay will return, with support from the Naturesave Trust

For three years running, Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) has run our #MendItMay digital campaign across May, inviting people across the UK to take action and mend one item of clothing to save it from landfill. New for 2024 is our in-person repair demos and skills learning, aimed at school age children and parents - to feed into the wider digital campaign.

With funds from Naturesave Trust, we are now able to deliver these valuable activities - engaging with children and empowering them with repair skills from an early age. We will deliver these activities in three schools and in the May half term using the established Repair What You Wear resources and repair technicians. Every skill level is taken into account and families will be able to explore the importance of mending in the context of fashion’s damage to communities and landscapes.

We are excited to add this in-person activity into our existing digital campaign - where people across the UK get out their needles and thread to patch up their wardrobes - extending the life of well-loved garments and reducing the impact of their wardrobes on people and planet.

“We’re so grateful to have been supported by the Naturesave Trust - #MendItMay will take on a whole new shape this year as we add in these exciting in-person activities. Getting hands-on with our SFW community is always the best way of demonstrating why we need to make changes in our fashion habits - and how it’s possible to that without a big budget or lots of experience.” Amelia Twine, Sustainable Fashion Week Founder
