Introducing SFW Hub: Dorset

Introducing our Hub partner in Dorset, hosted by Sustainable Dorset, Bridport Fashion Revolution and Defashion Dorset.

The three organisations have grouped together to host an incredible programme of activity during SFW 2024 - the programme is available to view here.

Defashion Dorset

Based at Hawkers Farm, Stour Provost, Defashion Dorset promotes fibre makers and growers and local clothing culture. An old milking parlour has been converted into an event barn, which is the home of a collection of sustainable fashion makers, creatives, shops and events. Hosting the annual Defashion Dorset weekend in May, Hawkers Farm comes alive with a rich programme of workshops, speakers, talks, stalls, and demonstrations on sustainable fashion. Previous topics have included natural dyeing, visible mending, lace making and knitting as well as a fashion assembly in association with Fashion Act Now. The barn is open every Thursday with a drop-in stitching group where attendees can learn to mend, upcycle, embroider or create garments.

Bridport Fashion Revolution

Banging a drum for sustainable fashion in Bridport, Bridport Fashion Revolution hosts events around Dorset that engage, educate and inspire, including a twice-yearly fashion fair. Recent projects include the Bridport Community Flax Project, where participants can sew, grow and harvest their own flax with the aim of making Bridport linen.

Sustainable Dorset

Sustainable Dorset connects communities and nurtures resilience across Dorset. With over twenty years of operation, our website serves as a central platform for sustainable events, enterprises, and initiatives, highlighting the incredible diversity of activity across the county. Alongside providing a platform and promotional support to grassroots initiatives, our projects include the Green Living Guide, our Eco-Schools network and a textiles hub which unites local producers with makers and teachers as well as repair cafes. We welcome membership from individuals, groups, and organisations to join us in our collaborative effort towards a more secure future for Dorset, amplifying the impact of grassroots change and fostering a thriving, resilient community.
