Meet the Team | Ben Butling

Who am I

I’m currently a young creative working in and around Bristol as an image consultant, photographer and stylist. New to the industry of fashion, I am hoping to make a positive impact from day 1; by implementing a conscious and well-informed attitude within my work and striving to create new and exciting projects that express my own values. I have a strong connection with clothing, admiring the beauty and confidence it can provide, yet also very aware of the issues underpinning the fashion world as this is something that informs my own consumer approach.

Within another avenue of my life, I also work for Finisterre; an environmentally conscious clothing company born out of St Agnes, Cornwall. Intertwining my university studies and this role, I am hoping to take my current learning into a more professional environment and learn from the wonderful team I am surrounded by.

What I believe in

Changing the fashion landscape with more representative casting in editorials, education surrounding manufacturing and a real effort to alter the perception around single use clothing. I think the acceleration of fast fashion needs to be stopped and our attention needs to return to what we already own and how we can provide it with more life, excitement and energy.

Why SFW

Because we need more organisations for change. With the amount of exciting and engaging things SFW are planning, the opportunity for learning and action is endless. Together we can become a real force for good, utilising each other’s skills and knowledge.

What I do for SFW?

Digital Programme Lead - developing and creating a digital programme with recorded interviews and How To workshops, and contacting working professionals and like-minded businesses.
