Helen is heading up our hub in Cardiff! Championing sustainable style for over a decade, Helen is an artist passionate about fashionable upcycling and showcasing how to live sustainably in an unstable world. Working at music festivals and outdoor events has allowed her to collaborate with many talented sustainable creatives, and this will continue with workshops and events being held at her new studio at the Bone Yard, Cardiff.
Cardiff places sustainability at the heart of its development plan for the next decade “Stronger, Fairer, Greener”, which prioritises becoming a carbon neutral city by 2030. It aims to “nurture and celebrate biodiversity with high-quality open spaces within easy reach for rest and play which are connected by convenient, accessible, safe and sustainable transport options.” Leading by example, Cardiff declared a climate emergency in 2019 and has been working to reduce emissions city-wide ever since and was named the UK’s greenest city in 2021. The Bone Yard is a centre point of creativity, featuring 10 shipping containers that are filled with a range of artists and designers. The site is now a centrepoint of independent retailers and makers, regenerating a former industrial site to a creative space in Canton, Cardiff.
Helen will be leading a range of workshops and events throughout the year, featuring guest appearances from sustainable brands who have shared her journey, giving a glimpse into how to make sustainability work in your fashion business and ideas for everybody on how to make more conscious choices when it comes to how we adorn ourselves, from the clothes themselves to washing, mending and styling to get the most out of your wardrobe.
