Thread Republic CIC is a textiles reuse and skills Hub. It was founded in 2022 by 4 freelance textile practitioners with a shared vision to reduce waste and provide circular solutions and deliver community textile workshops, events and socials aimed at enhancing well-being through creativity.
In addition to sustainability and creativity, wellbeing is the third pillar for the social enterprise. All community activities aim to help combat feelings of isolation, negative self-talk and low self-esteem by building confidence in a fun, non-judgemental environment.

Bring along up to 10 items of clothing in good condition and swap for new-to-you items anytime between 11am - 2pm. Adult and children's clothing (including school uniform) welcome. Drop in, all welcome, family friendly. Uniforms accepted.

FASHION SHOW
Upcycled Fashion Show: This Is Not A Duvet Cover
A catwalk show celebrating the garments created as part of the Thread Republic Upcycling Challenge 2024. Upcyclers have transformed 100 recalled IKEA duvet covers into garments.

STITCH SOCIAL
Bring along any hand textile project (sewing, knitting, crochet, patchwork, quilting etc) to make and chat alongside others. All abilities welcome. Self serve refreshments available. No booking required. £2 entry fee, payable on the night.

'Put a pocket in it' with pkt studios. If you're frustrated by the lack of pockets in your shop bought clothing, then this is the workshop for you!
You will need to bring a garment you own that you'd like to put pockets in. Recommended for those with some sewing experience.
