Everyone Needs Pockets is an inclusive network of people and enterprises based in and around Frome in Somerset whose focus and priority is about addressing clothing and textile reuse (rescue) and sustainability (repurposing, recycling).

They are a group of makers and researchers who make, stitch, knit, weave, repair, re-purpose, remake and research local and global textile sustainability issues.

Everyone Needs Pockets is supported by Edventure‘s Future Shed Frome, a Green & Healthy Frome initiative funded by the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund

    From Flax to Fibre

    How is cloth made? Reconnect with nature by transforming flax plants into fibre for cordage and linen yarn with Simon and Ann from Flaxland UK.

    Join Dr Lucy Gundry in the archives of Frome Museum to peek inside boxes and become a dress detective! We will explore how items have been worn, mended and repaired.

    Mending & Alterations with Anna

    Broken zip, missing a button, hem coming down? Don’t throw it away, let Anna show you how to fix it!

    Whether you are a beginner or just a bit rusty then the tips and techniques in this masterclass will enable you to go on and produce beautiful garments. Bring along a garment that needs fixing (Does not include materials).

    Popicoq will be supporting Sustainable Fashion Week with a special sale of Vintage and Pre-loved clothing, alongside original pieces created from recycled materials. We will celebrate the hub weekend of 28th/29th with complementary bubbles served in the shop!

    The Pod Scrapstore will be open to the public and stock an assortment of fabrics, haberdashery items etc for clothing repair and creation. We also have a selection of shop mannequins should anyone want one. Free!

    How To Mend Your Clothes With Everyone Needs Pockets

    Help make your loved clothes last longer, with our volunteers, by learning how to; darn a hole, sew on a button, fix your favourite jeans, adjust something to fit better. Come along with one or two items you would like to mend.

  • STITCH IT DON'T DITCH IT

    Everyone Needs Pockets will be taking to the Westway shopping centre to mend clothes in public. Not a protest, but an 'encouragement' to share the love of mending our clothes and demonstrate the pleasure and necessity of garment repair. No skill required but please contact everyoneneedspockets@gmail.com if you would like to join us. Free!

    Frome Wardrobe Collective Sustainable Fashion Week Clothes Swap

    Frome Wardrobe Collective return with another fantastic clothes swap event in support of Sustainable Fashion Week. We have helped Frome keep thousands of clothing items and accessories in circulation.

    We welcome all genders, ages and sizes to join us in indulging in slow, sustainable style. £3 cash minimum entry fee.

    Frome's Sustainable Fashion Week Window Trail

    Throughout Sustainable Fashion Week, Frome's independent and charity shops will showcase creative and inspiring exhibits promoting sustainable fashion. Can be viewed across the town.

    An evening with Scott Wimsett and The Vintage Collective

    Scott Wimsett a is a presenter, social media beauty and fashion director, and sustainability expert. We will be talking about the worrying rise in fast fashion, and the importance of making conscious decisions when it comes to what we wear and what we buy. We will also discuss how to wear and style vintage. Tickets are £5 and includes a glass of fizz.

    An evening exploring material futures and regenerative design with Caroline Till, co-founder of FranklinTill, a design futures consultancy and co-author of ‘Radical Matter:Rethinking materials for a sustainable future. Bring along Fabric, haberdashery items and textile related books to swap.

    Visible Mending with Skye of Slow Stitch Club

    Slow Stitch Club teaches the art of visible mending using simple and traditional sewing techniques to repair clothing in a creative, visible and intentional way. This workshop is suitable for beginners and sewing enthusiasts alike. Bring along a denim or cotton garment to mend.

    Join us for a sustainable preloved and vintage fashion fair. We are passionate about shopping secondhand and keeping quality clothes circulating within our community. Ditch the apps and come and shop preloved in person!

    Reusing, Reinventing and Reimagining and Clothing

    A workshop with the emphasis on embellishment. You will learn about planning and practical application with suggestions, support and examples. Anna Fraenkel is a professional soft furnishing maker for the last 25 years, she is passionate about producing and exploring ideas of reimagined, wacky and wearable clothing. Sewing skills can be from non-existent to more than competent

    Please bring as much or as little of the following ;Haberdashery, clothing and inspirational pictures /magazines. (for your own use or for sharing) all of which will also be provided.

    Worn Out in Frome

    An exhibition of worn and mended items of dress from the collection at Frome Museum and on loan from visible mender and author Skye Pennant. Each item tells the story of a life worn out through clothes in Frome. Curated by Lucy Gundry. Free!
